The weird thing is that Will Smith was the GOAT at role-picking for the first decade or more of his career. Every damn movie he was in was a blockbuster. Now look at him.
And this movie won’t be? :gucci:

I should have more specific. Every damn movie he was in was a highly regarded blockbuster that positioned him and his brand perfectly. All that work added up to a public image where he can now repeatedly take roles in terrible movies and bring them to success on the strength of him being in it, or take stupid embarrassing roles and not cost his brand too much because it is what it is.

But look at EVERY role he's taken in the last decade, and how many times can you say, "Man, Will Smith, he did it again, that flick was fire!"

To be clear, we're talking:

Aladdin
Bright
Collateral Beauty
Suicide Squad
Concussion
Focus
Winter's Tale
After Earth
Men In Black III
Seven Pounds
Hancock

If that had been Will Smith's career from the jump....
