they made him invincible.. and that was fukking stupid... even in the very end, he never got caught for anything he didIs anyone really surprised?They didn't refuse to let him die just because. I did figure it would take a little longer but once I heard that Showtime wouldn't let him be killed off I knew he'd be back. That is the only saving grace of that piss poor finale. The LaGuerta shyt was what really pushed me over the edge. I just knew they were setting shyt up for a huge final season after she got killed. All the pieces were there...it was right there on a platter and they glossed over that shyt like it was nothing. Seriously, you got a police captain murdered and there is no investigation? Nobody curious about why Deb called to see where she was right before she was killed? Nobody looks into the cases that she was working on? You let the guy she tried to put in jail, do her crime scene? We just skip 6 months ahead and life goes on

no it doesnt follow it completely...but it has some of its quirkiness....
just finished seasons 5 and 6, it wasnt AS good as the first four but it wasnt terrible

I just binged watched this season 1-8. Season 7 and 8 were definitely a little hard to push myself through but I chalked it up as me being burnt out watching the same series for a few weeks in a row.. but the drop off after season 4 is no joke I felt like they had new writer/director and this thread pretty much confirmed that (just the way the actors interacted with each other, the dialogue and the filming/camera seemed different)
In the 1st few seasons he felt control of his emotions and just different attitude..
but after that he started getting all emotional and it just seemed like the complete opposite of the dexter from season 1-4 (stone cold killer). He went most his life not telling ANYONE his secret, but then every new person he met after season 4 he would spill his emotions and guts too
and his obsession to help his "spiritual mother" was weird as fukk
it was nothing like season 1-4 dexter woulda done
they could say its cause his character grew.. but the issue with that is the character was ALREADY DEVELOPED in season 1.. he was a grown ass man with like 40 bodies
it wasnt like it was new to him what, he hit the 70th body and all a sudden wanna switch up 
also the last episode
I kept saying "what the fukk" like 5 times throughout that episode. Dexter went out like a straight bytch which again, is the complete opposite of season 1-4 dexteredit: long story short; once dexter started befriending more people and started second guessing his kills thats when the series started to fall off
