Desperation to find/make new Hispanic superstar.

This is part of the reason.

Another part is that the E for a moment was indecisive with who they wanted to get behind. I think they pushed Del Rio and finally said "sink or swim, we're sticking with him until it works"

The thing is that it looks like its never going to work though.

They need to push him cuz they don't have any other viable stars to market to the Latin/Hispanic market. Rey was that dude for years but since he is so injury prone nowadays, as well as the fact that he might retire soon pushes them to groom the next guy. Del Rio is it for now, Sin Cara was supposed to take that spot but has been floundering as well.

Don't get me wrong... a push is fine. He should get that.

BUT...

A push that's constantly kept him in main title pictures for almost three years, since damn near the minute he got there? Hell nah.

He can be popular amongst the Latino market without being in a title match every month, cause dude hasn't warranted that at all.

:manny: just pointing out WWE's rationale in pushing Del Rio for so long.

I kinda feel bad for Del Rio, the fans don't really accept him either way as a face or heel.

Better bring back them rented whips...

Kinda reminds me of Orton where they were going to keep pushing him until he was over, no matter what. It may work out at some point. :manny:

Shame. Dude is solid in the ring, he just can't seem to make that connection he needs.

Yes, good moveset and his entrance theme isn't shabby either. He just needs to improve on the mic or get someone charismatic to speak for him. Ricardo isn't enough.

A gimmick change might help too. Ricardo just got suspended for doing drugs. When he comes back start an angle that Ricardo was also distributing drugs. Shenanigans ensue and 2 months later its discovered that Del Rio is the kingpin of a drug cartel, as he was originally intended to be. Solid and relevant contemporary gimmick. Let him be surrounded by guards (some stable) at all times.

Del Rio is definitely salvageable. He still has potential.
