So can we agree South Korea runs the Asian Cinema scene?

Woah, puts some respect on Nippons name :hhh: This is the country that brought you Ozu, Kurosawa, Naruse, Mizoguchi, Oshima, Kobayashi, Terayama, etc.

SK is fading Japan in cinema in the modern age but Japan made some of the GOAT films in the 50's/60's/70's and even in the last 20 years you got auteurs like Hirozaku Kore-eda (Maborosi, Still Walking, Shoplifters), Sion Sono (Love Exposure, Why Don't You Play in Hell?) and Shinji Aoyama (Eureka).

Don't forget Confessions by Tetsuya Nakashima. Still my favourite movie this decade :wow:

Just saw Mother and it was just ehhh - Not bad, but ehhh - My expectations have been so high lately.

Started to watch Lady Vengeance and - I couldn't finish - Does it get better? The story telling technique doesn't work for me so far.

I'm gonna say no since that was my least liked movie out of the Vengeance trilogy.

I know people are feeling the John Wick movies but this scene was always dope to me. Plus the creators of John Wick credit the Man From Nowhere as inspiration.

I had no idea it was a trilogy. I might stick it out, but these movies usually capture me fast, the constant flash backs was jarring for me then I saw a man being pulled on a sled with a dog body - and I was like WTF is going on?

Btw, the movies are narratively unrelated in Park Chan Wook's trilogy but they all share themes in revenge. The other two movies are Oldboy and Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance.
