I've read reviews from other black folks who said it was trash. Personally I saw the trailer and had no desire to see it. If felt like pandering, like a black knock off of Scarlett Johansson's Lucy. And since it came out in January the studio wasn't expecting much from it.

It was a remake of a Pam Grier character movie

Nothing to do with Lucy at all

Don't blame black women for that....

Blame the woke twitter community, which doesn't support ANYTHING....all they do is cry injustice, and proceed to show you how intellectually adept they are at discussing how racism and sexism intersect, especially re: black women.

The movie really looked like a poorly constructed and quick grab to get in on the " We want black/woman representation" wave that's going through hollywood.

Notice how that community as a whole... creates little, supports NOTHING, complains and lives essentially for attention....if they're not looking for a way to make some money off black trauma.

You kind of kil your own point of blacks don't like it unless whites produce it

Whites produced proud Mary too breh.

I think proud Mary failed in marketing on social media, the way black panther did. Many black audiences simply don't have cable anymore. You get to the black audience through social media. And I just didn't see a heavy push on social media. On top of that, the premise was poorly explained on the trailers, which is what you need to sell the public on taraji p being a super hero.

Then word of mouth didn't carry it well, most left the theatres saying the movie was just "ok" which is black folk talk for, honestly the movie kinda trash, I'm just not going to outright call it trash cause I like taraji p henson , I regret paying 40 dollars for tickets and food for this movie and it would be better for you to just wait til the screener pop and watch it then.

If people would have been saying it was a great movie then it would still have legs now.

You my nikka but I have sling tv. They had them trailers popping every commercial break. It just looked like a shytty movie tbh
