You stopping by Chick Fil A and giving them money everytime you pass one is supporting opression...In a much more powerful way than putting pictures on Facebook ever could.. I don't see how you don't understand this...Your semantical argument about "open support" and "regular support" is just ridiculous.. But perhaps it makes you sleep better at night or makes you feel like you are on a moral highground above the church folks...
Its hardly an argument on semantics. I'm not going to stop spending money some place because they don't support gay marriage. Maybe if I felt stronger about it, I might. But even then, it doesn't really make a difference. Spending money there may mean that some of it goes to groups behind things I don't believe in.
But there is a difference between that and going there in an attempt to show my support for something. I don't see how protesting and using my voice to show people I agree with them is less powerful than throwing a few dollars their way here and there.
I am not supporting their motives or their morals or their agenda. Just like I'm not supporting homosexuals getting beheaded in the middle east when I fill up my tank. Just like I don't support children getting worked to death in sweat shops when I cop a new pair of Nikes. I am spending my money on a good. What they do with it at that point is regardless to me and in their control. If you spend money at some place with the idea in your head that you're supporting whatever cause that company is known to back, then you're going to have issues.
