Trump is in office because alot of the people who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 saw both candidates and went naw.
An emergency primary with a candidate with some distance between themselves and Biden is probably the energy you could have built off of to have roped enough of those folks back in to cost Trump the election.
The 72m who voted for Kamala would have fell in line with whoever won the primary.
