So are we giving Drake credit for giving exposure to more African/West Indianartists/producers?

Btw anyone know where i can find wizkid albums online? the hipster torrent sites i be on never have artists like him. Where can i find african artist mixtapes or dancehall dudes like alkaline?

Of course he deserves props. How many can honestly say they heard of Wizkid or Kyle before One Dance???
Try every British poster

Afrobeats went worldwide in the early 2010's
Funky House was the sound of black Britain in the late 2000's

I'm not about to give props to someone for simply not being pig ignorant of black music outside of the states like most Americans, and especially not given how & why he's doing it.
Wiz kid & Kyla barely notable 'features' are only there to cover his tracks up on the writing end, these aren't actual features, same shyt with Majid Jordan on Hold on we're going home, same shyt with leaving Party on that song for like 3 seconds on the album that was obviously originally his. Drake is always on that wrong end of putting ppl on vs absorbing aura, style, sound, flow, slang etc scale and getting credit for it and I'm sick of it. Look at this very thread, all of a sudden these dikk riders talking about 'this a Toronto sound' :mjlol:and Drake is getting more props than artists who are really responsible for it.

There's nothing praise worthy about Drake appropriating 'unknown' artists and 'unknown' genre's of music for his own benefit, this is the same guy who's team scowers the internet to find random soundcloud rappers to use as ghostwriters. When Drake starts explicitly crediting his influences & really starts putting the ppl on who he's swagger jacking get back to me.

Dude. I've been trying to put dudes on game like forever.

Please google Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, Mavins, P Square, Iyanya, and Flavour. They are probably the biggest stars in the genre. Check out websites like:

www.jaguda.com for info on hot music. Some of my favorite songs are:

I could go on all day. Afrobeat is a multibillion dollar industry at this point. Popular acts are insanely popular all over Europe, Middle East, and Africa. US is behind the curve on this one.

All my Htown dudes hit up Belvedere on Friday nights for an awesome afrobeat club.

Nah man I can't stand belve nothing but thirsty Akata women thinking every dude is a trick.

geez... is this gonna be the "pretend I was on Wizkid early because I wanna expose how much of a wave-rider Drake is" thread? :snoop:

The vast majority of people have zero idea who Wizkid is. Yeah if you live in Nigeria you know about Wizkid for years, but even people in Nigeria were 'eh' on him from what I saw.

And West African pop is :gag:. I don't know how y'all stomach that shyt especially if you're a so-called hip hop fan. It's worse than mainstream pop imo.
