As for the decline of R&B groups: I blame the boy bands of the late 90's and early 2000's. N-Sync, Backstreet Boys and the rest. They sold millions upon millions and everyone wanted to follow that specific blueprint.

End of black R&B groups...and some would say good black R&B music in general.
