But, a year before hand, maybe he really had just wore the mask in the video for styles sake, just to be mysterious or artistic or whatever. And then unrelatedly, a year later, after he got beat up maybe people started retroactively assuming that was why he had worn it.
Which would explain why in the video you can clearly see both his eyes, and they dont look blacked or swollen or beat up at all.
