Well, the thing is friend is that the mosquito in the OP is about the size of a quarter, or a good sized wasp. So, what you're telling me is that you saw a mosquito two to three times the size of a wasp? 
Now, what you might have seen is a "mosquito eater," aka the Crane Fly.
