Is Secret of Mana better than Chrono Trigger and FF?

No but its apples and oranges.
The things that make Chrono great are partly what make Mana great as well.


Mana story was generic, goofy and very "Never ending storyish"

The gameplay, sprites, music and over all feel of the game are so great that the story actually takes a backseat to it.... After beating that game countless times the story is still kind of blurry to me..

Chrono is just a masterpiece.

It's almost hard to imagine that we'll ever get something as good as that again. Square seems like they bet the farm on a lot of things back in the day profits and cost be damn. Now.....not so much. If FF15 is a hint at the direction they are headed in the future I don't look forward to much from them outside of remakes of there classic's.
