He arguably had the best verse on this Big Sean/Chance track

Big Sean's last verse on the retail version of this song is the best verse by far on this song... the retail >>>> Smino's version

Coli isn't sleep on dude, they wouldn't fukk with him anyway. He's in the same lane as Chance and he's like the STL Chance IMO, so it's not surprising that The Coli doesn't talk about dude.

It's very repetitive tbh

His music also postures itself as deep with a deep message but there's no depth.

He's talented and really good in his lane but his lane has a shelf date
Hit the mark on both points. He collabs/collabed a lot with Monte Booker, but after a while I got annoyed with the random noise type beats.

I hear yall about the repetitiveness to his music, and the lack of actual real depth so far. He operates heavily off of vibes and the vibe can be pretty same-y. Even moreso for me though, he just feels a lil like he is now underachieving too much at this point, based on his potential. But he's still dope as fukk, incredibly talented and one my favorite newish artists.

For me its been: Smino, JID, Saba, Mick Jenkins, Zay, & reggie. And honestly I think they would make a dope ass group.

Smino just gotta branch the sounds out a lil further, keep growing, not be afraid to make big music, and get personal sometimes. And I could see all that happening on this next album. Hope so and can't wait, this shyt gon be dope

:what:

how? seems like you're pinning him there

his music always came across as light, experimental, and approachable to me. nothing deep about it, simply an alternative sound and content to trap

smino, JID, Buddy and Guapdad was supposed to form a little group/drop a project, but i'll assume that'll hitthe same rack as a black hippy album or the cole/kendrick joint

and these takes on him needing to be deep or personal are weird, i turn to his music, yes, for the vibe, but also to not be bogged down, yall want a heavy/deep song, go listen to an artist who does that and stop trying to make artists who don't into something else. i FW Smino as-is, when i don't want to hear him/his sound, then i turn him off
