Relative to each person's experience, they were "good" days because of the memories. But empirically those days were not good for negros as a collective for reasons already highlighted :mjpls:

What about the people in the year 2112?....One hundred years from now they will look at what we are going thru now and call us primative. They will say to themsleves "Aids.....u can get the cure for aids at the corner store"....But in our time its an epidemic.

Probably most didn't feel the racism like its portrayed in the history books?

I wasn't there to know but you know how things get exaggerated over time. I'm sure 90% of the time when they were growing up they didn't have any traumatizing incidents and try grew up at the time not us they would know. If it was that bad they wouldn't call them the good old days.

c/s this thread

I also give the :comeon::rudy: faces when Black people talk about the "new age" as if the old age wasn't about slavery and unequal segregation

They were forced to stand for something!

i wouldnt be suprised if blacks had more confidence and ambition back
atleast they know who the enemy was

A lot of negros are starry eyed and belong in space where their ridiculous ideas can float away along with them. The world doesn't need starry eyed c00ns waiting to be shipped away by Massa.

Massa means oppressor

i didnt say the world was gonna collapse

60 years ago there were less black men in prison.

Didn't say you did, they didn't need to put you in jail when they had the KKK and those other white supremacist vigilante groups
And half of those 2 parent homes weren't stable anyway

we can go back and forth all day, cause i could say the number of black men in prison dwarfs KKK membership 60 year's ago..so fukk it

but my original point was that the good ol days obviously aren't referring to the oppression/racism/discrimination of the times

Racism was more blatant back then, but I think "the good ole days" refers to a time where a large collective of black men and women stood together and possessed a progressive mindset in attempting to attain some sort of equality. Something that many of us lack today

Pretty much. This is it. If we still had that, along with the rights we have today as compared to back then?

We'd be fukking unstoppable. But instead, we took the rights and left everything else back in the 50's. Breakdown of the family unit, etc, etc.... yeah, some of this is not purely on black people and we can blame outside forces but a lot of it is nobody's fault but our own.

Sucks, breh.
