The gimmick works in nxt cause it’s a smaller arena and a more intimate setting. Those jokes die in the big arenas.

They have a gimmick that ultimately lives and dies by good writing. They got better writing on NXT so their act was more entertaining on NXT. It also doesn't help that their gimmick relies heavily on being able to get laughs and comedy is a struggle on the main roster.
