My problem with Clips is a lot of his set ups are terrible. It's that "stand up comedian" set up bullshyt he does. Yung Ill says some hard shyt, without a punchline. His rhyme schemes are just vastly superior
Someone put it best, the contrast between Clips and Ill is stark. Yung Ill raps like a battle rapper. Aggressive, rapid fire, with good rhymes that aren't even punchlines. To me, him JC and Verb all have the ability to rap great, and what other people consider "filler", I can consider just displaying rapping skill. People think everything between a punchline is filler. I disagree. If you're just talking and saying nothing that rhymes clever between punchlines, that's filler. But if you're using rhyme schemes, and rapid fire multiples, that's dope as fukk to me
Charlie raps like he's telling you jokes. Sometimes they can be really dope, other times they can just comes off waaaaaaaay too jokingly.
