SMACK URL - Born Legacy 3 - Daylyt vs. Mike P

This was hard to get through due to the stoppage. They let Mike P spit his bars, but were stopping Daylyt (or was Day just stopping?) 500% too damn much.

My first impression was a clear first for Mike, and third for Day. Day's second was so long that I forgot Mike's shyt, so I have to rewatch before giving a judgment.

It's not a classic, but it was about what any of us could expect from these two. If anything, Mike seemed slightly "off." Day did well to write his rounds for the opponent -- he's been doing that more in general.

Daylyt's first is terribly written. Absolute shyt compared to his 2nd and 3rd.

We shouldn't allow that disjointed rambling to be passed off as lyricism anymore, you shouldn't get brownie points for being unable to express yourself clearly. If Steams has become more clear and concise, Day has no excuse. Day had a personal angle that round ("I birthed the PGs" etc.) , and it was his worst round.

Mike P. came right at him and won that round. Wasn't spectacular but a it was a much better round overall.

Day's 2nd had a lot of overheads, but very little rambling and unnatural phrases, that's lyrical imo. It's still cutesy wordplay, but that's what we watch Daylyt for...

The crowd silent as shyt in parts they should have reacted to, and too loud for shyt that was "eh". It felt like two K Shines up there stopping for every reaction they got. The audio was fukked. I'm dealing with two different levels of volume on rhyming that made me have to turn the volume up and then loud ass crackling in between rounds with the stupid ass sound effects. URL had one job and dropped the ball. You release your most hyped battle and then you fukk it up like this? I felt like the live element of the battle was stripped away with this bullshyt editing. It felt like Rex rhyming in his third with Clips. I don't enjoy this battle. To me it feels like a feel good moment in battle rap history flushed down the drain. I'm pissed. Waited mad long for a URL classic with fukking Traffic audio. KOTD went and purchased their own space and they throwing pay per views from that bytch and URL boasts about a surface they renting and pushes out this bullshyt? The fukk. I can't enjoy this battle and I really fukking wanted to.

I agree with your sentiment. I think I understand why he's complaining, but I don't feel bad for him.

The reason why Mike P has to try all these different things is because he doesn't have his own style. Not our fault he has to work so hard and rap in the mirror for hours, ideally a rapper should have a distinguishable style from the jump. Mike can put on a show and win battles being a jack of trades, but eventually he will get frustrated that he has to put forth so much effort. It looks like it's already happening.

Most of the real stars only do like 3 things. Doritos doesn't make a nacho powdered pretzel and they'll never have to. Once you get into the real world, you realize versatility isn't a marketable quality.

I was joking when I said that Nuborn was rubbing off on him, but after that post I'm starting to think that maybe it's true. Nuborn does the exact same shyt, even mid battle. That's what fukks him up. Mike is heading down that same road.

The worst thing I think you can do is beg the fans to like your shyt, while trying to appear elitist on top of that. It's good to take pride in your work but you can't force other people to feel your shyt. Just focus on figuring out what works, and the fan love will come.
