I care more about the philosophy and theory behind politics and economics than the current events and political strategies.
I was trying to explain public choice theory, and why that better explains the GOP's behavior than anything I've heard. Sounds like you didn't really understand what I was saying. Public Choice theory isn't well known except within libertarian circles it seems. I think it's the best descriptive political theory in social sciences. You have to accept that everyone is self-interested, and i think liberals have a hard time with that .
I didn't listen to the podcast, but i believe I was also touching on Realism Theory as well.
I was nervous, and my heart was racing...mostly because i was afraid i would stumble because i was being recorded, and I did.
1. You said you supported the Repubs blocking everything Obama and the Dems proposed that passed through the House even though you admitted you haven't been following politics or his presidency at all and you don't even know what policies they've been blocking. You basically came out and straightforwardly said you are mindless lemming voter.
2. You didn't know what the START treaty was.
3. You didn't know how a filibuster works and didn't know that simple majority in Senate gets a bill passed without the threat of the filibuster holding it up.
4. You didn't realize me and She Agree That I'm Looney were fukking with you when we said states have U. S. 3 Senators now. You were like "States have 3 Senators now really? I thought it was 2?"
5. You thought Ronald Reagan appointed Paul Volcker and you (supposedly) have a Master's in economics.
6. You said maybe Obama is a moderate, you don't know because you don't follow politics, even though you've spent the last few years on sohh typing angry, apocalyptic diatribes about how Obama is a tyrannical marxist who is destroying America.
7. You didn't know that individual mandate healthcare was the brainchild of the Heritage Foundation and was a originally considered a Republican position.
8. You said the constituencies of Republicans oppose all the things they're blocking in Congress without producing any evidence. Then when evidence in the form of polls was cited that your claim is erroneous, you said polls don't mean anything, yet you couldn't produce any more evidence than Republicans you talked to at dinner parties as evidence for your claim.
9. After you were exposed as an ignoramus who knew nothing about any of the policy proposals in question, you shifted your argument to droning on and on about how Republicans blocking legislation were doing it for their political aspirations; an assertion that was already established and agreed upon by everyone on the panel.
You might know a thing or two about economics or various sciences, but you got exposed as the grand ayatollah of smart dumb nikkas and a blank slate when it comes to politics and government.
