Just the other day a young woman was out jogging. Some man kidnapped her, raped her, dumped the body and joined the search party.

People in this world are sick.

The story doesn't add up. We are not hardwired to sleep in cornfields. It goes against our survival instincts. Think about how well you would sleep surrounded by plans and insects.

I don't even know how they determined the kid was sleeping. If it is based on the drivers assessment, that's another red flag. How would he know?

On some of the jokes in this thread, they are sick, even by Thecoli's standards. We are talking about a child who died in a gruesome manner :what:

Lmfao bruh had Richard Ramirez vibes. How’d they figure it was him?

That’s a horrifying way to go.

Wonder how he didn’t hear it. Or maybe he did and the corn was too thick to run fast enough and couldn’t see where the tractor was coming from.

This is like a cautionary tale that no one asked for.

Someone is gonna tell their kid this story and that little kid is gonna have an irrational fear of corn fields for the rest of their lives.

the ether
My dad's side of the family is from Missouri, and for those of who who don't know hunters.

1. Huge parts of the Midwest are basically all agriculture, fields are the only place for deer to eat and the best place to hunt them.

2. Lots of those rural teenagers are considered capable, they're shooting deer, running farm equipment, in some places you can specially apply to drive at 14 if you're rural. It's not surprising to me that they would drop the 13yo off in one place and then each of the adults is waiting for deer at a different place. I don't remember if my pops did that with me at 13 but he definitely did around 14/15.

3. The best time to see a deer is from about a half hour before sunrise until an hour or two after. So you have to sneak into your spot before the deer get there, a solid hour or more before sunrise. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid woke up at 4am, was out in the field at 5am in total darkness, and fell asleep tired and bored as hell waiting for the sun to come up so he took a nap.

It's still incredibly negligent by the father because he never should have dropped that kid off in the field without knowing what might be happening in the field that day, and if the kid was still sleeping at 9am then he wasn't rested or disciplined enough to be hunting by himself. But none of it strikes me as odd - it's all in line with how rural folk operate.
