SLAM Magazine's Top 50 from 1997

That ESPN list made me dig up my old slam mag from 97 when they ranked the top 50 players. Here's who they had top 10:

Kareem has made his way up to #2 in a lot of posters eyes recently for a variety of reasons . Oscar, baylor and west have suffered the most out of that top 10.

But whether it's SLAM or ESPN, 1997 or 2020, one thing has been consistent: Michael Jeffrey Jordan is the GOAT. Has been the consensus GOAT for over 20 years. And that list is before he won his 6th ring.

I'll post some other articles too. I noticed an article on baron back then too when i was flipping through

career longevity wasn't part of their criteria obviously. that is a part of kareem's case for being in the GOAT convo, why elgin isn't top ten.

i just noticed he was put over west. that's a bizarre placement, wonder what their thought process was.

at least nice to see rick barry mentioned at all. goes under the radar in all time great discussions.
