outside of "Give It Up" and the cornball skit after "The Knowing", I can listen to this straight thru. I hope nikkas support Sky tomorrow, dude deserves it.

The other side, otherwise
I want to check out his previous work before diving into this one?

I'm hearing his best projects are The Great Debater and The Salvation?

I'm going in with this one, so ignore me if you don't care.

Sky has quickly become one of my favorite artists, and I don't say that shyt lightly. I started with "Live From the Tape Deck", which I really didn't feel at first. Then I got hold of "The Great Debater", and there were aspects of it I loved, and I started checking for him. That brought me to "The Salvation", and by "Maintain" on that tape I was absolutely sold. Then I relistened to "Live From the Tape Deck", and I think I started swerving the f'ing car. I was groovin' hard as fukk all of a sudden. The first joint 'Digital Analogue' just got me going out of nowhere. I think I just had to get hyped to hear Sky's vocals, and the beat came second, and I understood, and I :eat:

By then I was ready to fukk with the rest of dude's catalogue. I've yet to fully digest Cloud 9, but from Theo vs. J.J., 'The Ellis Wilson Painting on the Wall' and 'FGR' are my shyt. Then comes "A Dream Deferred."

I just feel as though there are very few artists that put as much of themselves into their craft as Sky does. Dope shyt.

.... In addition, thus dude is a pure lyricist. To me this is almost just a good as the Salvation. It might even be better to be frank. If that is even possible because the Salvation is classic. Daaaaamn. Skyzoo has substantially increased his greatness as a top MC.

F**k what U heard, this is album of the year no question. Better than LIG too.

And there is barely any profanity or cussing, just pure urban poetry over beats that extremely complement his style very well. Love the jazz interludes at the end of the songs which add to the amazingness of this album.

Dude went in.

How will he top this???? I guess I said the same thing when Salvation came out.

I dont think its better than Salvation. Its really good, and arguably more focused, but his debut had more to offer IMO

Still copping tomorrow

Excellent points.....agreed, especially the lack of profanity. It takes more talent to do it without it IMO. Hell, we've been desensitized because we hear it on albums so often. Props to Sky for delivering a great album. Whether its album of the year or not is debatable. Gotta see how it holds up replay wise.

On another note....DJ Khalil has been my favorite producer the last 4-5 years. I was a loss with all the alternative rock stuff he's been doing with New Royales, etc. Rage of Roemello is the standout track for me.....glad to see he can still bring it.

Thanks bro. U are absolutely right about how it takes much more talent to spit without profanity. Much harder because the MC is forced to be more creative and descriptive with his words. Dude is a very talented MC.

Reminds of how Chamillionaire attempted to do the same thing with Victory. Aside from a few misses it was a solid album and he pulled it off nicely. Its a shame these types of albums are frowned upon by the younger cats that labels are trying to make sales too.

So true. Seems the mass consumers prefer the shuck n jive ignorant Bo jangle c00n type hip hop while the Chamillionaires and Skyzoo fly under the radar. A damn shame. This is the type of hip hop that can motivate and inspire the younger generation to greatness. The govt knows what they are doing.

For a long-time, I felt Salvation was his best album. But, when Live at the Tape Deck, I couldn't stop listening to it, and it eclipsed my Salvation Itunes plays. A Dream Deferred is on it's way to surpassing both.

It's ashamed Skyzoo probably won't reach the masses, because his music isn't straightforward enough :rudy:

Their loss. :jawalrus:
