Punk got to have a 15 min Jericho title defense and Bryan got squashed by Sheamus and ever since that night..when the UK fans backed him over the company the next night on Raw..he was the man. Punk came out that same nigh t and t hey were doing yes chants for his offense because Bryan was the man and everyone knew it. He carried Smackdown for months while Punk was doing some drunk angle with Jericho that fell flat and definitely didn't have the crowd hotter than tthe Rock/Cena build.

Best WWE Match of the decade for me...I cant believe it was 6 years ago. The pipe bomb Promo and Everything leading up to the match was Perfection but in classic WWE fashion that ruined it. The summer of Punk angle should had lasted longer

Exactly punk proved his legendary status by recreating an angle from Roh but doing it even bIgger and better and was slaying nikkas in on microphones for the next year or so but damn did they mishandled the second half of that run

At least he didn't get injured like the next week of that title run and have his career end abruptly

I wish I could have the same reverence for the match you guys do about this match.But, seeing how badly they screwed up the angle afterwards and Punk left the E, it just another missed opportunity from that era. They could've really had an all-time feud going into Mania if they had Punk "gone" till before Mania and Cena being the placeholder champ. Instead we got that horrible Kevin Nash angle and Triple H match that HHH went over with no further matches

Haters will ignore that they have NEVER heard a reaction so behind a wrestler as hard as Punk during his entrance during MITB. Maybe RVD against cena at ONS. But that crowd booed cena so hard at MITB that it sounded like white noise. Punk sat Indian style in the ring and just stood up and the audience went BATshyt
