Yeah Hoop Dreams was made in Chicago which was the home base of Siskel & Ebert. Ebert had a black wife as well

If I'm not mistaken he was a big basketball fan also

At least Ebert would give most horror movies a chance (although he famously despised Friday the 13th and Silent Night Deadly Night.) The only horror movies that I remember Siskel ever liking was Magic, the original Halloween, and Scream 2.
