I've counted at least four reviews that either say even Last Stand was better or it makes Last Stand look like First Class/X2.

Supposedly Psylocke and Storm have virtually no lines and even less screen time than Magneto's filler new family.

Over-abuse of CGI that reminded people of Ang Lee's Hulk.

Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have both been said to have "phoned it in."

Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse is unintimidating mostly due to writing.

Just to name a few things.

How do you not write lines for two of the most important women of color in comic books :mindblown:

Not too surprised considering the MAJOR UNDERWHELMING trailers that have been released. That plus the head-scratchingly bad actors they've cast (Olivia Munn? Are you fukking KIDDING me!!??!)

And this is coming from someone who genuinely enjoyed First Class and Days Of Future Past, but it looks like everybody's favorite pedo director has finally run outta juice...

And I've read about 4 reviews so far and they all say the same thing, the story is formulaic and basically a rehash of the previous two movies. Charles preaches earnestly to Erik, who doesn't listen. Mystique's loyalties are caught in between them. Mutants fight each other. Rinse wash repeat.

They even say the Action sequences (except for another stand out scene with Quicksilver) are lackluster. Complaints of psylocke's outfit being sexist, complaints that the 4 Horsemen are underused, and that the ensemble is too bloated and certain characters are severely underutilized or just there for fan service (Wolverine)

The highlights seem to be the new trio of actors who play Cyclops, Jean, and Nightcrawler, are very good. And that Quicksilver is a delight during his short amount of screen time.

Definitely won't be seeing this in theaters, I'll wait for it to hit iTunes. I'd rather see Civil War again anyway

"There is a scene in the 80’s set X-Men: Apocalypse where a young Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Scott Summers (Tye Sheridan) exit a showing of Return of the Jedi and argue the merits of the various Star Wars films. The participants discuss “EmpireStrikes Back was better” versus “Star Wars started it all” before coming to a consensus that the third films always stink. It’s intended as a jab at X-Men: The Last Stand, but it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Bryan Singer’s would-be trilogy capper is a shocking miss. It is a lifeless and hollow shell of a picture, lacking exciting action, strong character interplay, or compelling storytelling. It is the nadir of the franchise, determined to make you apologize for every mean thing you’ve ever said about Brett Ratner’s rushed X-Men trilogy capper a decade ago. X-Men: The Last Stand is X2: X-Men United compared to X-Men"
