Since When Did NBA/NHL Arenas Start Blasting WWE Music?

So I was watching the Wizards/Celtcics game tonight and noticed that at certain points they would play Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn's music shamelessly.

Then I flip over to the Nashville / Anaheim hockey game on a whim and hear Tye Dillinger's theme.

Is this a new thing or have I just not been paying attention?

I was at a Pelicans game and they played Sheamus old theme during shootaround at one point this year.

They've been doing it at least since the late 90's/early 2000's. I remember hearing Stone Cold, Hardy Boyz and even Hardcore Holly's themes at games.

I went to an Astros game in Houston earlier this week, and they randomly showed a cartoon image of Ric Flair on the jumbotron & had the entire stadium start woo'ing. It was incredibly random since the shyt happened in like the 5th inning & as far as I know, Ric Flair has no connection to Houston

It's fukking everywhere. NFL and MLB do it, too. The main themes seem to be HHH, Sami, Austin, and fukking Bobby Roode

Although I've heard KO, AJ, and Vince themes this NBA playoffs as well. Boston in particular is white trash as hell, playing multiple WWE and GNR songs per game

Josh Reddikk is a huge pro wrestling fan, and the Astros pre-game did a bit with him doing wrestling impressions. The Flair thing kind of took on a life of its own after that, and people fully embraced it when the Rangers fans and Dallas media got annoyed & complained about the wooing.

He used to come out to Trips' theme. Not sure if he still does, but I heard it last season during multiple games.
