Silent Hills is officially cancelled, Konami has confirmed.
Find Konami’s official statement below.
Konami is committed to new
Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘
Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.
In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future
Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.
The news comes following Konami announcing Saturday that it
will remove P.T., the
Playable Teaser that led to the reveal of
Silent Hills, from the PlayStation Store this coming Wednesday, April 29.
This was
followed by movie director Guillermo del Toro, who was working with Hideo Kojima on the
Silent Hills project, saying he was no longer involved, and actor Norman Reedus suggesting he was no longer on the project, as well.
And all of this follows reports of a fallout between Konami and Hideo Kojima, who is
expected to leave the company after the release of
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on September 1.
