Following in HBO's footsteps, Showtime has announced that it is launching a stand-alone streaming service in mid-July. Simply called "Showtime," the service will launch through a partnership with Apple and costs $10.99 a month. "Going over-the-top means Showtime will be much more accessible to tens of millions of potential new subscribers," said CBS Corp. President and CEO Leslie Moonves in a statement about the deal. "Across CBS, we are constantly finding new ways to monetize our programming by capitalizing on opportunities presented by technology. This works best when you have outstanding premium content – like we do at Showtime – and when you have a terrific partner like Apple – which continues to innovate and build upon its loyal customer base," he added.
Not this shyt again. First hbo, now showtime. Why would they partner with Apple instead of working with both them and Android. Gives them more access to customers and a bigger piece of the market share. What are the subscriber numbers for hbo now so far? Android has a bigger market share and would get them more profits than just Apple. What does showtime have anyways other than homeland?
Apple may have funded some of the upfront costs to land exclusivity for now. It'll be on android soon enough.

If HBO NOW does live TV streaming like Showtime, then I would drop the basic cable package i have now. Only reason I really have cable at all, a very very basic package with HBO and Showtime, is for my boxing matches.
not surprising considering that's the core of their customer base. Young pretty girls that are skilled just in texting and taking selfies to post on a million social sites. Sorry if I offended any Apple fanboys or supporters of that company.
I'll stick to showbox, streams and other sites for hbo, Showtime, and anything else I don't have access to.
