Showtime or HBO; which events do you prefer......

I see hardcore fans on boxing forums actually bytching about and standing behind networks in this cold war.


So people's which do you prefer and what do you like or dislike about each network, discuss.......

Showtime obviously bit HBO with the 24/7 and HBO has better commentary

I don't have any preference Showtime and there dikkriding is just as bad as HBO mainly Lampley cheerleading ass, at least they know the difference between a right hand landing or left landing, many times on the Broner fight Bernstein done overscreamed everyone straight yelling the wrong shyt.
Starting last year my answer was HBO hands down but lately, the whole mood seems drab post Stewart, now it seems as they are a bunch of old ass bitter ass haters, with Roy saying son try to attract the younger audience, but they would be far better suited with someone with the gift of gab like Tarver


Showtime stepped it up but I noticed things, like them trying to quiet or quell unpopular statements quickly(mostly about Haymon fighters) I also noticed a lot of horrible scorecards which they use announcers to try to justify the house score they know is gonna happen, because over the last year there have been some questionable questionable ass final scores to protect certain fighters......

They both a toss up, but watching HBO these days is like watching donahue, that TR all over the ring all over the mics damn near more visible than the HBO signs cast a negative dark light over the network

lampley/merchant/steward used to be the GOAT... but two of them are gone now and kellerman is good but I prefer malignaggi over him in the same role

Showtime by a clear win.. but it really doesn't matter, it's not like I'm not gonna watch a fight

I prefer Showtime, but I'll watch either. It doesn't matter to me.

But if we wanna compare the 2 networks to other sports though, I would put it like this...

HBO is like the NFL. They want to market their brand based on the product, not the players/fighters. It's like how the NFL has games on Thursday night, it doesn't matter who's playing. They feel it doesn't matter, because millions of people are still going to watch simply because it's football. That's the approach HBO is taking. They just want to put on fights and want the viewers to become accustomed and expect good fights. Even if the fans have no clue who the fighters are.

Showtime on the other hand, is like the NBA. In the sense that they're all about star power. They market their product on the backs of the fighters. They wants viewers to salivate over the big name match-ups, even if the styles of the fighters don't exactly cater to the fans. Whereas HBO wants to tell views "Boxing is on tonight", Showtime wants to tell views "Floyd Mayweather is on tonight"

As do I..i like max but sometimes I think he tries a little too hard. He was more tolerable when he was on ESPN. One of these networks however need to pick up Tarver. I enjoyed his commentary a lot when he was on Showtime.

I don't have a preference for either network as long as the fights are good but @King P nailed it in terms of how HBO and Showtime markets the fights they air to the masses.
