He would retire because he suffered a football related injury. The injury related clause in his contract would guarantee him all of that money. Now if he just retired like Darren Waller then no
Nah dont work like that

Injury clauses protect him if the team cuts him due to injury and he cant pass a physical or play again. Then he gets all his money...

The Dolphins would eat 80+ mil dead cap if they cut him. Its signifcantly cheaper if they kept him around rather than cut him. @Regular_P is right, if he retires he doesnt get the money due to him at the start of the 2025 league year

Not by any means a medical professional but if he were to stop playing tonight, would he still be able to live a healthy life? Or is he already fcked with the concussions he has sustained.

Can't help but think CTE is already ravaging his brain as we type.

Uh yes it does

Should Tagovailoa retire after suffering this latest concussion, the Dolphins could opt to honor the entirety of his $212.4 million contract like the Colts did with Andrew Luck.

They could also give him the minimum total without going after any of the signing bonus. That would equate to the $167 million total since it would be injury-related, or about $90 million if it's not ruled injury-related.

Whatever damage there is is already been done. He’s a grown ass man, he wants to go there he’ll go back out there. That’s his right and I support it. He should retire cuz he’s not a very smart qb. Not throwing the ball away and not getting down, He’s putting himself in these situations by going for it when he should get down a tick sooner and get on to the next play. He gonna get his self killed out there.

Studies are showing CTE is more about repetitive blows than the severity of blows. A few bad concussions as a qb might be a better look than playing 3 seasons as a starting rb or lineman with no concussions

yeah they can CHOOSE to give him money.... he's not entitled to that if he retires. And doing that would put them in cap hell for 2025. They would have nearly 60 mil cap hit tied up in a dude not on the roster.
It wouldn’t count against the cap
I just said, and the article just said if it’s ruled injury related he will get all of his money. Not sure why you’re still trying to argue this point

You have a good one buddy
