Should the NBA go to an NFL style playoff bracket?

Just throwing this out as I was just watching First Things First and it was mentioned:

With Miami and Memphis showing they had no business in the actual playoffs, should the NBA move to a 7 team each conference bracket
-#1 seed with a 1st round bye (could that be too long though, basically 3 weeks off)
-#2 vs #7, #3 vs #6, #4 vs #5 as normal
-#7 seed- determined in a best of 3 play in between the number #7 and #8 teams
-Also, reseed after 1st round (Im adding this). #1 seed gets worst team remaining.

This would help teams at the top of the standings take less time off resting in order to first for the #1 seed, like football.

Good idea, or anyone else with a different playoff setup

Nah, Memphis actually was a good team for much of the season; before the all-star break, they were hovering around the #2 and #3 seed up until sometime after the all-star break entering March.

They just had bad luck toward the end of their season, firing their coach, etc, but also facing OKC made matters worse; if the Grizz played against anybody except Oklahoma City, they'd likely still be playing right now.

Miami probably shouldn't have made it to the postseason, since their under .500 record and 10-game losing streak after trading Jimmy made it evident that the Heat were not worthy of the postseason but got in due to circumstances such as the Play-In Tournament, which is one of those examples of how the Play-In has its cons, undeserving teams being awarded a postseason berth for winning at the right time.

All the teams that made the postseason this year had winning records, except the Miami Heat which says a lot about them having no business being in the playoffs.

Without the Play-In Tournament, Miami would've missed the playoffs and Atlanta would've taken their spot as the 8th seed since they had a better record. Despite the Grizzly's performance against the Thunder, Memphis (14 games over .500) deserved their spot. Unfortunately, what worked for them during the first half of the season stopped working, became mediocre, and the cherry on top was firing their seasoned coach, who possibly could've gotten them a game against OKC.

Stop trying to change everything about the game, Adam. Many things about the NBA are fine just the way they are. Play the games and enjoy the entertainment.
