I haven’t done much research but I think they should already be considered citizens of the United States of America...Like that hurricane last year in PR we should of been all over that supporting them but shyt we can’t even do anything about Flint so I can’t call it.

They are consider citizens well pr and the us part of the virgin islands. They have representatives in congress but right now its ceremonial with statehood they would have real power. Conservatives wont allow it though since that drastically changes the balance of power.

It's sad that they can vote in the presidential primaries, but not the general election

Would be nice but unfortunately I don't think independence is feasible given it's long-standing proximity w/U.S, nor do I think majority even want a complete separation. P.R is mired in debt, & knee deep in corruption, and most are primarily concerned w/fixing that above anything.

Do you think the island can be restructured? I know debt there has been happening for years and corruption.
