You're giving the government more power than they actually have. People do dumb stuff everyday. The reason this is getting so much coverage is because of the Navy Yard shooting and it allows Democratic leaning news networks to highlight the government shutdown. By tomorrow, this will be yesterday's news just like the Navy Yard shooting or any of the other shootings that were supposed to distract us. You dont need to distract people who aren't paying attention.
