Keith Stanfield is certainly a young talent on the rise.

The 22-year-old actor/rapper who practically stole every scene in which he appeared in Destin Daniel Crettin's "Short Term 12" - his feature film acting debut - and whose performance earned him a best supporting actor Spirit Award nomination, has booked roles in key feature films since then, including Don Cheadle's Mlies Davis project, "Miles Ahead," Ava DuVernay's MLK drama "Selma," and now, Universal's N.W.A. biopic, "Straight Outta Compton," in which he'll play Snoop Dogg!

Stanfield joins O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, respectively, in a film directed by F. Gary Gray.

Carra Patterson and Paul Giamatti are also in the cast, playing Tomica Woods, Eazy-E's widow (who inherited his share of N.W.A. song rights, and is also a producer on the film), and Jerry Heller, manager of the group.

The drama is produced by original N.W.A. members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, who are joined by fellow producers Matt Alvarez and Tomica Woods-Wright. Will Packer serves as executive producer of the film alongside Gray.

Originally set up at New Line, Universal picked up the project in turnaround, with F. Gary Gray attached to direct. John Singleton was, at one time, interested in the job.

The upcoming film, which follows the group as they emerge from the streets of Compton, California in the mid-1980s, to go onto revolutionize pop culture with their music, is set for a release next year in August, 2015.

If they have Snoop in the movie, that means at some point it will focus on Dre. I see no mentions of Warren G, Da Lench Mob, Mack 10, Bone Thugs, DOC...It's not like Snoop was the only spin-off of NWA, especially when they had been broken up for a long a$$ time (Hip-hop years) before he showed up.

he was around in the late days of NWA. Warren G is on the nikkaz4life album, Snoop was recording with Above The Law. i heard he wrote Nuthin But A G Thang to a ATL beat but they couldn't get the paperwork together in time so he went with Dre. All these guys were intertwined for a long time. Suge was a bodyguard for Ruthless, DOC wrote half the damn songs from Straight Outta Compton through to Doggystyle & more, depending on how deep they get into Ruthless after the break up they might have cameo roles for Bone Thugs, Black Eyed Peas and some others. as soon as i saw Paul Giamatti i knew he was playing Heller :russ:

plus Snoop was involved in dissing Eazy & Ruthess after the break up.

But that's my point. If they have Snoop in the movie..which at the time of the NWA would've been a cameo, where's DOC..who should definitely be a major part in the movie, Warren G, Da Lench Mob (it is Cube's movie after all)? Also, Bone Thugs would have to be included since they were huge at the time of Eazy's death. All of these spinoff's of NWA came in virtually at the same time...so either they won't cover the breakup at all, which is absurd, or they are gonna focus mainly on Dre.
