A lot of west coast sets there...they're a bit "realer" than NYC in that aspect.
Put it this way: I'm from" Ohio but I know people from Gardena, Cali in Ohio AND Maryland...They're a hub.

Same way Jersey Bloods and Crips are looked at as “realer” than NYC ones too, to an extent.

Like how the Grape Streets have legitimate links to 103rd in Watts, or some Brim/Piru sets have links in LA.., shyt even some homegrown sets have links like Nine Trey having/had links to the Millers

The thing with Greedo is that he was very popular amongst his contemporaries in the short time that he was actually beginning to gain recognition, so I would think Shordie listened to Greedo like damn near everyone else did last summer.

More than anything, the way Shordie and Greedo approach their harmonizing just sounds really similar -- it's might sound like a reach, but their use of slurring and even the sort of humming they use for their hooks sound incredibly similar

I do think Shordie is distinct enough to be a great artist in his own right, but perhaps the Greedo influence was a tad heavy handed on this tape. Nevertheless, I think the music was good enough to get excited about him as a solo artist moving forward.

I was also going to post up the song Molly as a reference for where they sound similar, but there's a lot more once you start digging through his catalog.
