The book is actually very good though, hopefully the creators are smart enough to adapt it in a good way. The white man was essentially a plot device for the reader to learn about this era in Japan. Once the Japanese government collapses and the end of the Sengoku period arrives is when things get really interesting though
I agree. I remember my uncle telling me about it when I was a kid and my mom loves the Richard Chamberlain 80s adaptation.
