Brook was content with winning and not putting on a star making performance. Porter was practically throwing himself at this nikka to get KO'ed. I can see how Manny was able to drop him twice in sparring now. Just imagine jumping head first into a 4 punch combo.
finally got around to watching porter brook...
Shawn porter is even shorter than I remember him, I cant believe he ever fought at 165, thats crazy lol... this fight made him look very raw/limited as a fighter at this point of his career... he was able to get inside on a consistent basis and smother Kell Brook's power, but in the process smothered his own work as well... His stamina is pretty damn good though, for him to be able to fight in that style all 12 rounds... Despite the loss and his obvious limitations, i still think he's a solid top 7-8 welter and will most likely hold a belt again in the future ones he refines his style a little bit more... people forget that he's improved alot in the last couple years and is only 25... if he's able to learn and adjust from this loss, he'll actually be better off for it
Brook did a solid job, better than I thought, but didn't particularly impress, i don't think he ever really hurt porter, but he could've if he stepped on the gas a little more... He's definitely a legit talent at welter... but far from elite... I wouldn't even say he's on Tim Bradley level yet... I think the fight that makes the most sense for him would be Khan, but I'd much rather see him vs Thurman. It would possibly be the hardest opponent of both of their respective careers
All in all, not half as entertaining as I expected the fight to be, and I would say most rounds were close with Brook winning a decisive decision. Porter's bugging to think he won that shyt. He'd be lucky to even get a draw
