Main Event

“Showtime” Shawn Porter (IBF Welterweight Champion - 2nd title defense) - 24-0-1 15 ko's vs “Special K” Kell Brook - 32-0-0 22 ko's

Backstory: This is a bettle of young undefeated welterweights. Porter is riding on a small wave of momentum right now ever since last December, when to the shock of many boxing heads, he bullied the IBF title off of Devon Alexander in a minor upset and surprisingly dominant performance. He then followed it up in his last outing where he sent the equilibrium of Brooklyn native, Paulie Malignaggi, to the bushes in our nations capital in only 4 rounds. An uncharacteristically short night for both fighters. Porter is eager to do the same thing once again. Kell Brook is an exciting boxer puncher from England who has had many crowd pleasing fights over the last couple of years. He's eager to make an impression in his debut on American soil. Many Brook fans hope that he can expose the struggle that dwells within Porter and hopes to stay undefeated while walking away the new IBF Welterweight Champion. Should be a damned good scrap

The Undercard

Sakio “The Scorpion” Bika (WBC Super Middleweight Champion - 2nd title defense) - 32-5-3 21 ko's vs Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell - 26-0-1 22 ko's

Backstory: This is a rematch from last December.. 12 rounds of wild, foul filled, ugly, and brutal brawling that ended an SD draw. There were 2 specific events which had they not happened we would have seen a W. If Bika was not knocked down and not had that point taken late in the fight it would have been a SD win for him. For Dirrell, the fact he faded in/gave away the later rounds due to stamina issues and inexperience cost him the fight. Now they are about to do it again. The Dirrell brother that was unlikely to be the first one to win a belt, after beating cancer and coming back from a motorcycle accident, may do just that. A very hard puncher with a solid chin. However he will have to work for that. Bika can be beaten but every fighter who has had to fight him hard from round 1 to 12 to pull it off (I dont count that 1st round DQ loss). Overall a tough and seasoned fighter. Can't help but feel another draw might take place but we will see

Omar “Panterita” Figueroa (WBC Lightweight Champion - 2nd title defense) - 23-0-1 17 ko's vs Daniel “Tremendo” Estrada - 32-2-1 24 ko's

Backstory: Omar Figueroa was a young hard punching prospect whose career was on the upswing due to his fan friendly fighting style and KOs. No greater example of this than the absolute war he had last year with Nihito Arakawa for the interim WBC lightweight title (later upgraded to full champ). One of the most brutal fights ever witnessed in modern times that ended in a W for Omar. His hands were badly damaged in throwing almost 1000 punches landing almost half of them in a 12 round fight. His first fight back from that in April showed one thing: His hands were still a problem so his punches didn't have a lot zip on them. More concerning was how easily his opponent Jerry Belmontes easily outboxed him only to get a gift decision in his favor. Figueroa is now looking to regain some luster. Estrada is a tough but little known fighter out of Mexico He also shares a common opponent with Omar in Arakawa winning a 10 round TD. Unlike Belmontes, I expected Estrada to engage a lot more, which should make for an interesting fight

“The Bronze Bomber” Deontay Wilder - 31-0-0 31 ko's vs Jason “The Sensation” Gavern - 25-16-4 11 ko's

Backstory: I don't know if this fight will be the main event of the prelims on Sho Extreme or this will be the opener on the main card. To some Wilder, the last man to medal for the U.S,in the Olympics, is the new Mike Tyson. 31 wins, 31 ko's, no losses. Has also never gone past round 4 to date and has looked dominant. To others he is a potential Seth Mitchell-esque situation brewing. Wilder was down very early in his career and nearly out by a smaller .500 journeyman although roared to get the KO. Not the most polished fighter either but he carries a lot of power especially in his right hand. Jason Gavern is your typical Heavyweight journeyman who is capable of producing a surprising result such as drawing with the likes of a then 24-1 Johnathon Banks and a then undefeated Travis Walker or in his last fight out beating James “Lights Out” Toney by a majority decision late last year. So while most expect Wilder to move to 32-0 in this stay busy fight, there's always that feeling that he's just one punch away from losing his zero.

Overall I think this card is like an anomaly. Whoever is the matchmaker behind this deserves props. With all these surprisingly bad fights/cards being made these days in 2014 this one truly stands out. Just on paper this card should be nothing but flames. Knockout Kings 3 perhaps? I can't wait for it.

Anyone know much about Estrada? I am picking Figueroa right now, but he looked :flabbynsick: in his last fight. The Arakawa fight took a lot out of him and his hands were still bothering him.

If Brook would have beaten some better quality names I would have prolly picked him too, but I can't overlook Porter thrashing Pauletta and beating Alexander.

He definitely has the skills to beat Porter, I just think he lacks the intangibles to pull it off.

Hell, I was all alone in my upset pick of #AlgieriAssassins beating Ruslan and nikkas still don't even wanna give dude credit especially since he got himself a payday afterwards against Manny.

If Brook wins and it ain't no BS robbery or ref bullshyt, he'll get props from me. Dude's entertaining and makes for good fights so I can't hate him.
