Shield Reunion Ain't Doing shyt For the Ratings Game

They're not better than any of those, nor have the mainstream/pop culture appeal of probably 9 of those on that list. People reference nearly every one of those to this day. There's probably others I could add through personal preference (Brood, RTC, Jersey Triad), but I don't think they had the group nor solo impact that Shield had. It's not even a slight to the Shield, it's just that there were a ton of stables that did far more before them and all these years later still resonate with current and former wrestling fans. 10+ years from now, Shield will be talked highly of cause the WWE has practically had a mandate to beat the Shield's legacy into the viewers' heads.

Did anyone expect The Shield to boost ratings like that? The Shield is a great wrestling stable, but it has very little of that crossover appeal that DX and NWO had. Not to mention they weren't around as long as those groups before disbanding, and they weren't gone long enough to be considered a nostalgia act.

There aren't any true main event heels that draw heat. Who am i supposed to care about catching the instrumentals? Closest thing is Miz and he's not looked at as a real threat. Hell he's about to lose a match that he has a 2 person advantage in.

Yeah the shield was never huge for ratings or anyone outside of the audience who already watched. Like someone said they getting their Hov on and rewriting history without ink. The shield isn’t this all time great crew. They were barely around long enough to have the impact of nwo or dx or the horsemen. Those groups dominated partially due to world champs being in the crew along with other belts. The shield just beat people up had a us title and then broke up

But for real, Shield had a lot of good matches with Usos, Wyatts, and other 3 teams, but were they apart of any moments you'll remember other than those matches? Shield was a cool stable at a time when everybody was begging for stables for years (CorrePost Invasion NexusLegacy ). But they werent even around long enough and like somebody else said, weren't even split that long for the WWE to be trying to siphon nostalgia value out of them.

Like others have said they broke up too soon, plus theres a lot about the PG/Reality Era that had a lot of what ifs that prevented certain talent from being really big which in turn would have probably helped others in the company elevate. Shield just happen to be caught in that era where they got enough fans but not enough crossover fans cause of the era
