But the point of the show is super powers just walking around in normal daylight situations(wong in court or Titania being an influencer). So on top of it not being his city, people in costumes or with weird powers is normal.

Haha, I knew I'd come in and see a version of this due to Matt's portrayal. The thing is, people are free to enjoy what they want, and if they prefer the Netflix depiction so be it. But people who are unfamiliar with the comics runs of Daredevil should understand that there have been numerous portrayals. This is closer to the more swashbuckling side of the character, and is every bit as "Daredevil like" as the Netflix series. I think it struck a good balance between Netflix Matt and the version they are introducing to the MCU.

just feels like we could have seen more of the fact that being a hero is normalized. As bad as Ms Marvel is, they brought the whole "fandom" of super heroes into the show with the big contest Kamala signed up for. That added to the story cause she became one solely because of her being a fangirl

The joke was based on breaking the 4th wall - knowing that nerds who have disliked the show till this point would probably watch this episode and be outraged that she didn't know who he was.

And then they'd probably go off about how the new version of Matt has already been ruined.

The MCU's fictional geography is a moot point.

I don't mind it. I love the Netflix series, but it was three seasons of depression, catholic guilt and alienating his friends. All told very very well. There's more than one version of the character though.

The head writer, Jessica Gao, is from Rick and Morty. Had two seasons of a podcast with Dan Harmon called Whiting Wongs. She knows all about the trolls.
