Tell em.People underestimate how much more competitive technology/globalization has made life in America
Prior to millennials/Gen Z, professional life was far less competitive and you were rewarded for hard work
You now comes down to credentials, network and a growing, specialized skillset to even begin to compete with educated people moving from all over the world for that same job
The 9-5/40 hour work week is a relic of a much simpler, less competitive, less expensive time
That's what I said in the other thread.
The ABET institution starting around the 2010's have began validating, verifying and officially giving credentials to other countries' engineering programs.
Now your $200k USC degree has been deemed by a 3rd party committee, from the United States, to be on par with schools like Universidad de los Andes from Colombia (same math, physics, engineering classes and everything) and other schools around the world.

Additionally, all those kids have access to the same free online education via youtube, OCW, Kahn Academy, etc. that we do. The same exact lessons.
That wasn't a thing 30 years ago.
Everyone basically on par today: instead of competing with 340 million adult Americans, you're now competing with 8 BILLION adults from around the world.
Like the NBA found out, CEO's found out those foreigners are pretty good.
Funny thing is, out of the nearly 2k American colleges, only 400 meet the same ABET standard for Mechanical Engineering and other disciplines for example. So in many ways them cats are getting an even more legit education in some 3rd world countries than some schools and students here stateside.
