You see the same thing in tech. Black people overwhelming taking the same path of cert chasing to get an almost guaranteed six figures. A lot of them have no real passion for the field. Meanwhile, you'll see some white "tech genius" who only graduated from high school, no certs, taking all kinds of risks and experiments because they love tech ... and know if they fail they can live in their parent's second house, or their uncle will hook them up with a six figure job. And if they succeed? Now their six figure job is a nine to ten figure job.
Great example. Tyler's done a lot for the community, but ultimately a lot of his work is disposable garbage. He could try to find and fund some black screenwriting and directing auteurs like an A23, but that would jeopardize the bag. So he just stays on his plateau. Love him or hate him, a Jordan Peele moves the community further in the long run.
