I know it's not real; but I liken it to performance art, and dedication to the craft. Gene Snitsky had his teeth permanently dyed for his gimmick. Gangrel actually had fangs implanted into his gums. Some of the old timers actually had surgeries to make their foreheads look scarred.
Abdullah the Butcher, Sabu, and New Jack have lives after wrestling, but they all walk around looking like they did in their glory days.

Choking out a kid's favorite wrestles and telling them it's their fault > pouring dog food on somebody. Corbin is doing some of his best heel work and imo he's #2, but Baszler has been better at it for a longer period of time.
