that shyt cold!!

them nikkaz making ben hur and he-man play each other on monday night football dope shyt!!

this was cool to see, from an organic side.

it was not as good as marley marl, does mama said.
yet it was dope from an original grassroots organic standpoint.

good detail in workflows on the akai and keyboard using vst's...

check it out!
thumbs way up on this one......

tek what are this guys best beats? and what was the murder charge about? i remember reading some blog about it but it was short

imo,....
his best series of beats are the start and progression of:

Jeezy
get ya mind right

thug motivation

jeezy
Hypmotize
inspiration

tha nikka uses some old star trek soundefx hail clint eastwood high noon whistle shyt.

mixed with some ben hur type orchaestra shyt meets an old cartoon brass section minimalist shyt. with some cocaine documentary instrumentation shyt.

with the craziest organic bang ever featured in rap or music history!

imo,...hypmotize is the best overall rap song of this century.

get ya mind right is the predecessor.

hypmotize is the epitome of sonic evolution at the apex of original composition in the history of rap.

I need to get a MPC and keyboard cause all these nikkas beats be easy as fukk, but shawty redd shyt bumps

it is not the equipment.
it is all in how he eq's.

if you can not make your own wang,....
you can forget it,......

you can make the shyt with anything.
you just have to have the ear to innovate when you eq.

dope vid. like art barr said, seeing a glimpse of the work flow and beat making process is very interesting.

the beat and groove he came up with was pretty good. nothing revolutionary but you kinda see one of his formulas applied. plus it bangs.

one thing i found funny (cause i think most beat makers do this) is the way he would lay down something, get up, walk around, bop his head or get in the groove, get hype to it and then he'd hear something in his head and run to the gear to lay down something on top. then get up, get hype again, etc.

very dope vid. i always liked his style and i do feel like he's somewhat one of the pioneers of the current trap sound. hope he comes up with some dope productions in the future and who knows, maybe even revoltionize the sound once more. i tend to agree with Timbo when he said the current 808 sound is played out to some extent but he shawty redd gets a pass for atleast helping building it in the first place and also for making dope beats.

it's not the equipment. it's what you do with it.

not familiar with the MPCs but one of my friends has the MPD (MPC emulator controller) and from what i saw in the video, as long as you have the drumkits and vsts, and a keyboard controller, he could have made the beat with that. again, not familiar with the hardware but i'm pretty sure the 2500 could make it too (except maybe for the parts where he would keep the pads pressed and the hi-hat or snares would play super fast. that i'm not sure but i distinctively remember the MPD32 having that function as well.

melody played in 808 ...check

chord progression...check

super fast hi hats....check

im going to give him a pass though cause it sound like his first beat on the MPC i know hes going to get better in time and make some crazy hot shyt but yall suckin dude off like that simple azz starter beat was pure gold.

i re-skimmed through the whole thread real quick and to be honest, not many people really praised the beat as some sort of revolutionary track. beat is generic but it's decent and it bangs.if anything, proplr were mostly praising shawty redd himself as one of the pioneers of that particular sound and style.

it's as if you saw Rza make a random sped-up soul sample type beat in 2002 and made a video about it. eventhough it would have sounded generic, it would still be kind of a cool video just because he was one of the pioneers of that sound.

edit: plus the real cool thing about the video is that it gives some insight on his workflow and process.

this is not the days of origin of the sampler.
what did you expext to happen.
he sure as hell was not going to give you his vst's.
he sure as hell was not going to show you how he eq's his personal work.
if he sampled,...
he sure as hell wasn't going to show you how he likes to chop with an mpc either.
which no sampled base producer from the days of lore will not do, either.

so what did you think he was going to give you in this video.

do you produce?
