Because people are capable of having sex for pleasure, not only for baby making. And both parties may not agree on what their meeting is intended for.

If a woman does not want to have the baby but the man does, the baby is gone.

If a man does not want to have the baby but the woman does, the baby stays.

But it's his time and money, years and thousands of dollars, that he has to put into this child now, just because she wanted to keep it.

This should be the rule, it's only fair.

If a man does not want to have a child he has to offer the money in order to abort it. If the woman refuses to abort then the man has the choice and ability to walk out of the non consensual parenthood forever. The woman can then choose to do whatever she wishes but the man is not a part of it.

This mentality explains a lot about the communities inability to be competitive in this world outside of sports and entertainment. Of course the collateral damage in all of that will be those kids.
