I haven’t watched First Take since Skip left, and I probably won’t start now.

Yeah, the show only works off the dynamic of out of touch white guy arguing with mature, but hip black dude. Stephen and Sharpe are too similar to be entertaining on TV. The only thing I'll tune into is Jordan vs LeBron GOAT debate.

SAS/Shannon won't work because it's not the dynamic people crave.

The dynamic is boisterous, yet articulate black man vs reserved, yet ridiculous in his convictions, habitual line stepping white guy. Both demographics watching are supposed to look at each other's side like It's the buddy cop meta

Would you watch Rush Hour with two Chris Tuckers? Two Jackie Chan's? No you wouldn't because then it wouldn't be Rush Hour

Skip understands the importance of maintaining that dynamic and that's why he just surrounded himself with nikkas

I'm not mad at Shannon for going on First Take. It just shows you how much he was tired of working with Skip that he'd rather go to his old show than work with him again. Also I'm sure Shannon could have had his own show. But building something on network TV is much different than online. He just did it with "Undisputed". This sounds like he didn't want something that was going to lock him down the same way. Skip had Shannon working constantly looking back. They were on Holiday's the whole 9. If Shannon is only there Monday/Tuesday and then many one other day. That's good for him to do other things and keep his schedule clean. "Undisputed" they had to be there 3 in the morning. He'll be on the East Coast now so it's a later start time too. Plus Shannon has been on first take in the Past.

But it doesn’t matter if Shannon is a fan favorite on there. SAS doesn’t actually run anything over there, he’s just the face and has an influence. If those CACs tell him he’s with Shannon every segment then that’s what he’ll accept.

I been said that it wouldn't work. Skip gave Shannon someone to fight against with his trolling takes. Their race is irrelevant though. They each picked a side and mostly stayed on it with opposing views. Is SAS the Cowboys fan? Is Shannon? Who is the LeBron Stan? It's like Chris Broussard and Nick Wright. One of them has these wild hot takes and the other is reasonable. Their dynamic works because they're usually on opposing sides.

I think Shannon and Skip fit well together. Might not have personally liked each other but the characters they played meshed. Not so sure about SAS and Shannon. Skip is a masterful troll and Shannon was able to play counter to that. Skip elevated Shannon by giving him an irrational villain to slay. The character Shannon has crafted was basically the counter Skip. Is he going to go to FT and continue that?

It's like Pippen and Jordan. After Jordan retired Pippen never won another championship.

This is a lateral move that doesn't address any issues he had with skip a la authorship of shows topic etc. Only advantage is not having to deal with skip daily

Agreed. Plus now you have to fly to New York every week. This move makes no sense to me unless he's getting a serious bag. So it's a downgrade from a travel and exposure standpoint. Exposure=Popularity. Shannon got popular because he debated Skip on every topic and sport. He wasn't rotating in and out. I can't believe Shannon would agree to only talk football. So now we're back to inside the nfl and cbs Shannon. It's not the same

Every topic? Undisputed was literally Cowboys, Brady, Lebron 90% of the time. shyt got old fast and was too contrived. First Take is pretty good when it comes to football because they have RC, Swagu, Orlovsky, and other former players discussing the game. SAS is no football expert so he's the entertainment. Shannon's football knowledge was wasted with Skip but he'll fit right in on FT because they actually talk about multiple games, teams, and players. It's not just 100% agendas.

You guys talking about the white guy vs black guy angle are off base. FT hasn't had that since Max got the boot yet ratings have gone up. They're getting better ratings than they ever did with Skip. I don't even know what you guys are arguing at this point because they're seeing consistent growth and that's not stopping with the addition of Shannon.

And no he doesn't have to be in NY every show. SAS ain't even there half the time.
