I don’t see what the big deal is?
The big deal is that the award was created to honor and respect the heroism that Shad Gaspard showed when saving a life, and how he was an absolute class act and legitimate hero. And then they immediately gave it to someone who died of unfortunate natural causes, because he was very friendly to people in the industry and was by all accounts a good guy.
In short; they made an equivalency of Huber being a 'very great and classy guy' to Shad Gaspard literally dying a hero. I'm purposefully leaving any racial bias out of this which I think is a valid factor as well but putting these two men on the same pedestal just does not feel right to me, whatsoever.
