It was decent. It kind of bothers me how Marlon won't go the more serious role route. Dude is an amazing actor.

The Wayan's low key ruined comedy in film for years to come.

Back in the day the formula was, make a normal movie. Cast a comedian as the star, let him make it funny.
But Hollywood copied their spoof formula where you , write jokes into the script, write humouress scenarios into the story. Make the entire cast comedians. Joke joke joke joke.

shyt is tired and played out for mulitple reasons.

One, movies are in development for years, so writing jokes into the dialog, means you'll have a bunch a of dated ass jokes by the time the movie comes out. Instead letting a talented actor ad lib the jokes during filming a few months before release.

two, writing a comedic story as opposed to a regular story means it will be a stupid story. Look at movies like beverly hills cop, the original ghostbusters, etc. Serious plot with just funny character taking part in them. Versus The Ghostbuster reboot, where we have extended scenes about wonton soup that fall flat.

all this is because the Wayan created a formula that was easy to emulate, but low key sucks and hollywood isn't original enough to realize how deep in the rabbit hole they've fallen. Now we have to create a subgenre called "dark" comedies, which is basically what all comedies used to be back in the day.
Rep for the perfect post. Make a good movie and cast a comedian that can be funny on top of a great script. Too much fishing for jokes at every corner. In the Locker Room there's a thread "What happened to Marlon Wayans" and I mentioned that he doesn't need to be directing, producing, and writing, as that's not where his talent lies, and his mindset is that of needing to make a joke for EVERYTHING. He's best when Keenan or another director with vision creates a movie and he's cast in as a normal guy who happens to be funny and quick witted.

All that aside, I just finished watching the movie and it wasn't as bad as I expected. It was better than A Haunted House, if that means anything. A perfect example of Marlon being over the top and trying too hard was when Ethan (Pimp brother) came in. That whole scene at his job was just too much. The first brother he met was the funniest. The movie was cool up to the point when the sister got out of jail. The middle was stale all they way up to meeting the last brother. Jasper was interesting an needed more screen time.

Story wise, I definitely felt more could've been down. There could've been a subplot of them needing to work together to achieve something or something. I don't know. Remember in Norbit when Resputia, her brothers, and Cuba Gooding Jr wanted to take over the city. Something like that.
