A lot of folks can't really do shyt about the conditions down there. MS is practically dead last in pretty much every statistic. Lowest education rate, highest poverty rate. But there's a lot of black businesses and land owners. But honestly, how I see it, if you live in MS, you might as well mover north to the Memphis area or south to the Gulf Coast area. The middle of the state is too fukked up, and too small in population to really do anything
Mississippi is a trip economically. The white folks with money are the "good ole boy" confederate network. And they fukk over poor white people (the majority of white people in the state) EVERY election. Yet these toothless rednecks keep em in because "muh confederate heritage #HottyToddy!"
So the black folks with talent and ideas get frozen out and have to leave the state just to make a name. There's a lot of black industry types that are from mississippi but don't claim mississippi.
And because the white folks are so backwards. They aren't even hip to the new wave of racism, they're stuck in the 19th centry. They don't even want to participate in the gentrification wave.
And the "liberal" whites with money end up packing up and leaving to bigger cities the first chance they get.
So now theres a reverse migration low key happening. There are a lot of New Orleans, Chicago & St. Louis transplants. I expect more as those cities keep getting gentrified.
