The worst is when car dealers have their own low advertised price if you finance through them and a higher price if you finance from outside and an even higher price if you pay in cash full.

It's a real hustle out there

Word of advice buy within your budget. If you can't afford a benz don't buy it period. Don't ever buy new, buy used. Usually the 3 to 4 year mark when new cars come off the lease from their previous owners is the sweet spot between getting a good price and a reliable car. If you still can't afford to buy at that mark, buy an older vehicle 5-8 years old. Finally, never take your used vehicle to the dealership for service. Find a local independent mechanic and form a relationship with them.

I been told brehs to start picking up wrenches and learn how to work on cars. I had the same car for like 12 years and in between had other cars and trucks all under $3k last multiple years. I can buy something for $800 and put less than the base cost into it and have it for at least 24 months. The cost of labor is what makes the prices skyrocket. I remember going into a muffler shop to get a pipe welded back on and they quoted a customer at $2400 for some suspension work that I did on the same type of vehicle a year ago, took me 2 days and $250 in parts to do the job....now you tell me who is making money moves:sas2:

I'm almost done with a 6 year loan. Not really a smart thing for most of us earning an average income. From now on I'm on that: If you can't pay for it in cash, you can't afford it.

Most of us with car notes, got rid a perfectly fine older car, just so we could be in something new.

You can always finance through them and pay it off the next day.

Or you can just tell them what you're willing to pay, and play different dealerships against each other. Go around to, or email 3 or 4 different dealers if you have to. One of them will do what it takes to get your business.
