Outside of tax deductions and benefits, what is exactly is the point of marriage? What would make a legally bounded contract of your relationship any different than what it is now? Marriage is essentially an illusion of security through wedding bands, rings, and vows. None of them actually mean anything because they aren't capable of upholding a bond. They are items and words and nothing more. Do people actually believe that a circular piece of metal will prevent a husband or wife from cheating? There really isn't a need to enter into a contractual agreement because you care for your partner. You can care for someone without legally binding yourself to them and reciting words to them over loud organ chords that won't be taken seriously.
